GUARD Archaeology recently supported the excavation of a prehistoric midden near the foot of North Berwick Law. Organised by the East Lothian Council Archaeology Service and Countryside Rangers as one of the events of the East Lothian Archaeology and Local History Fortnight, over 100 children from Law Primary School and a number of local volunteers excavated and sieved 1000 litres of collapsed midden soil to recover Iron Age pottery, animal bones and shell, with the aid of the sieving table GUARD Archaeology provided. These finds will be the subject of further analysis, which will enhance understanding of the prehistoric settlement on the summit of North Berwick Law.
