GUARD Archaeology held an Open Day between 11 am and 1 pm this past Saturday.
This Scottish Archaeology Month Event enabled visitors to see the workings of an archaeological company and the exciting finds we have recently recovered from early prehistoric burials in the north of Scotland, Carzield Roman Fort near Dumfries, the newly discovered Dark Age royal stronghold at Trusty's Hill in Galloway, the major Viking Settlement at the Udal in North Uist, and the medieval drain of Paisley Abbey. Nine people of all ages came to visit our office, which perhaps doesn't sound very much but they all spent a good while at each of our displays and seemed very interested in what we had to say!
