Dunragit Discoveries

GUARD Archaeology Junior Project Manager Warren Bailie, along with Declan Hurl of Amey, will be presenting the preliminary results of our recent excavations at Dunragit in Dumfries and Galloway, at this year's Archaeological Research in Progress Conference at the Royal Society of Edinburgh, 22-26 George Street, Edinburgh on Saturday 25 May 2013.

The excavations found a range of archaeology from the Mesolithic to the post-medieval periods. Some of the significant discoveries include the earliest known Mesolithic house in South-west Scotland, a Bronze Age cemetery complex and an Iron Age village. Finds included a Roman-British brooch, Bronze Age urns, Iron Age pottery and Mesolithic flints.
